If your broker's server does not appear in the MT4 login list, you can add it manually using the server name or IP address from your welcome email.
You will usually need one of these details from your broker or welcome email: the server name (for example, trade.broker-name.com) or the server IP address (for example, 123.45.67.89).
Step-by-step instructions
Open your MT4 platform.
Click File in the top-left menu.
Select Open an Account.
In the server window, scroll to the bottom of the server list.
Find the green + icon or the line that says something like add new broker like....
Double-click that line, or click the empty space beside the green plus sign.
Type the server name or IP address provided by your broker.
Press Enter.
Click Scan.
Wait for the scan to finish. When complete, your server should appear in the list with a signal icon and a ping value.
Select the server and click Next.
Choose Existing trade account.
Enter your Login (account number) and Password.
Click Finish.
What success looks like
The server appears in the list after scanning.
You can see a signal indicator next to the server.
A ping value is displayed, such as
25.40 ms.You are able to continue to the login screen and sign in.
If the server still does not appear after scanning, double-check that the server name or IP address was entered exactly as provided. If needed, ask your broker to confirm the correct MT4 server address.
Troubleshooting Tips
Make sure you are using MT4, not MT5.
Copy the server address directly from the welcome email if possible to avoid typing errors.
Try both the broker hostname and the IP address if both are available.
Check that your internet connection is active before running the scan.
If the server shows in the list but login fails, confirm your account number and password with your broker.
