How to reduce disk usage in future

To help prevent the problem from returning, you can reduce how much data MetaTrader stores.

Limit chart history

Large chart-history settings can increase both disk usage and memory usage over time.

  1. In MT4 or MT5, go to Tools > Options.

  2. Open the Charts tab.

  3. Lower Max bars in history and Max bars in chart to a smaller value such as 5000.

Disable news and alerts

If you do not use these features, turning them off can reduce unnecessary stored data and event logging.

  1. Go to Tools > Options > Server.

  2. Uncheck Enable news.

  3. Open the Events tab.

  4. Uncheck Enable to stop sound alert logs.
