Packet Capture hardware
Processes read data from the hardware. Then the Packet Streams are generated. Multiple streams/clients are plugged in on a single port.

Once traffic passes through the port, the system splits the traffic, for example, by checking who the VLAN source for the client is, and then splitting the traffic based on the VLAN tagging.

See Beeks Analytics Hardware Options for more information on the packet capture hardware.

VLAN tagging

VLAN (Virtual Local Area Network) tagging is where network packets are each tagged with a VLAN tag in the Ethernet frame. Typically, VLAN tags provide a means of representing multiple physical parts of a network infrastructure. In the case of packet aggregation/brokering, VLAN tags are usually set as switch port identifier that provides us with a visibility point identifier.
