The Portal navigation is in the Main menu on the left hand side. Select the menu to expand it. Select a menu item to display sub-menus where relevant.

Portal Navigation Overview

Some users may not see all options shown in the screenshot or described in this guide. This is determined by the following:

  • The types of Availability Zone (AZ) you can access.

  • Your user permissions.

  • The branding options that have been applied to your Portal.

  • Whether your Portal has any other Portals associated with it, for example, if you are a Proximity Cloud owner.

Role-specific menu options

Main menu

The following menu items may be in the main menu:

  • My Compute Items
    Displays a list of your compute items.
    View details about a server and manage compute items. See BKDI003 Viewing your Compute Items in the Portal User Guide.
    View Performance Metrics for compute items. See BKDI003 Performance Metrics in the Portal User Guide.

  • Build
    Displayed only for users with access to order compute for Shared Availability Zones, or for owners of Proximity Cloud Availability Zones.
    Enables you to request new Dedicated Servers or Virtual Private Servers. See

  • Connect

    • Shared Cross Connects
      Tailor your connections with counterparties by ordering new cross-connects.

    • Logical Connectivity
      View logical connectivity of Security Zones.
      Owners of Proximity Cloud Availability Zones can get more visibility and control of their networking within Proximity Cloud from this menu. See the Portal User Guide for Proximity Cloud and Exchange Cloud for details of the Logical Connectivity screen.

  • Analyse
    Displayed only for users of Analytics as a Service or owners that have enabled analytics for Proximity Cloud or Exchange Cloud.

    • Analytics Details
      Available to clients that use Analytics as a Service or owners that have enabled analytics for Proximity Cloud or Exchange Cloud.
      Provides trading and market data performance analysis and network packet capture tools. See the Analytics section of the Customer Portal User Guide for more information about access to Analytics from the Portal.

    • Custom links to analytics tools such as VMX-Explorer can be added to the Analyse menu on request.

  • Alerting
    Create and manage alerts for performance outliers in your compute items.

  • Security
    Oversee security of your compute items.

    • DDoS Monitoring
      Displays an at-a-glance visualisation of your traffic flow through DDoS monitoring devices (if you consume this service). Monitor traffic and quickly detect threats such as DDoS attack.

  • Administration
    Displayed to Administrators only.
    Administer and oversee your Portals and users.

    • User Management
      Manage your Portal users' settings and permissions.

    • Portal Management
      Access and manage your Child and Client Portals, including Security Zones.

    • Action Logs
      A log of all the user actions on your Portal.

    • Usage Reports
      Information about the packages used by your clients.

  • Support
    Read documentation and open support tickets.

    • User Guide: Opens a Portal user guide. This is a customisable link, and can also be disabled if required.

    • Support Tickets: Open, view, and manage support tickets.

  • [Your name]
    View and manage your user account.

    • Notifications: View Notifications. See Notifications (in the Portal User Guide).

    • Profile: Edit your profile and password, and enable/disable two-factor authentication.

    • Sign out: Log out of the Portal.

    • Select Language: This allows you to change the display language for the Portal (if this feature is enabled for your Portal).

If you are the owner of a Proximity Cloud or Exchange Cloud Availability Zone, you’ll see an additional Proximity Cloud menu item. These are described in the Portal User Guide for Proximity Cloud and Exchange Cloud users. This document also contains more information about the different types of Availability Zones available to Portal users.

The Availability-Zone API endpoint provides a list of all of the AZs that your portal account has access to.
