Step 1 – Open Settings
Click the Start button (Windows logo).
Click the gear icon ⚙ labeled Settings.
(Or press Win + I on your keyboard)
Step 2 – Go to Windows Update
In the Settings window, click Update & Security.
In the left panel, click Windows Update.
Step 3 – Check for Updates
Click Check for updates.
Windows will search for the latest patches from Microsoft.
Step 4 – Download and Install
If updates are found, click Download (if it doesn’t start automatically).
Wait for the download and installation process to complete.
(This can take several minutes depending on the update size and internet speed)
Step 5 – Restart to Finish
If Windows says Restart required, click Restart now or choose Schedule the restart for a later time.
Save your work before restarting — updates will not complete until the server restarts.
Step 6 – Verify Updates
After reboot, go back to Windows Update.
It should say You’re up to date with the date and time of the last check.
